I completed my medical qualification in India, specialising in orthopaedics which particularly interested me because of the significant difference surgery made to my patients.

I undertook higher surgical training in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and completed fellowships in Toronto, Canada and in the UK.

My special interests are in hip surgery in both young and elderly patients, including hip replacement, hip resurfacing, hip revision surgery, hip arthroscopy, surgery for impingement syndrome, knee replacement, knee revision and arthroscopy of the knee for soft tissue pathology.  I also specialise in Superpath Minimally invasive hip replacement for preservation of hip.

On average, each year I perform in excess of: 80 hip arthroscopy cases 60 knee arthroscopy cases 135 Hip replacements 80 knee replacements 20 hip revision surgical cases My National Joint Registry figures can be seen here: http://www.njrsurgeonhospitalprofile.org.uk/SurgeonProfile?gmccode=4667788

I am also involved in under-graduate and post-graduate medical training and developed UKITE, a self assessment test of orthopaedic knowledge for specialist orthopaedic trainees which benchmarks participants knowledge against that of their peer group.

Mr Kulkarni works at the University Hospitals of Leicester and carries out private practice services at the following locations: Nuffield Health Leicester Hospital and the Spire Leicester Hospital.  He was also the Lead for UKITE in-training exam for 7 years and Editor in Chief for Wikipaedics (BOA) for 3 years.
